Whether it will take a month or an entire offseason for quarterback Brett Favre to make a decision on his return to NFL, the Minnesota Vikings are just willing to wait. Their patience seems the contrary to the enthusiasm of Vikings fans who used billboard and newspaper ad to urge Favre to make mind.
According to Vikings coach Brad Childress, the three-time MVP is still healing up from the injury he suffered in the NFC championship game and the team has no intension to press the issue. He had two conversations with Favre this week but did not mention much about football.
Not only to Vikings but also to all NFL fans, Favre’s decision is worth waiting. He can just also ways cause hot discussions by making decision to retire or not to retire. Two years ago, he announced retirement at the end of his 16th season with the Green Bay Packers but put on the New York Jets jersey for 2008 season. Then last year, he made all believe that he was determined to retire with a shoulder injury. What happened at the end was that he joined the Vikings after missing all of the offseason workouts and training camp. It’s really hard to say what decision the 41-year-old quarterback will make this year. So just wait like the Vikings.

Vikings was beaten for the third time
It seemed that Brett Favre’s best time has gone and the Minnesota Vikings have lost the power to keep a winning streak. Starting the season 6-0, they were firstly beaten by the Pittsburgh Steelers, then after a four-game streak, they lost the second game of the season to the Arizona Cardinals. As fans began to be optimistic again after the Vikings won last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, they were disappointed again this week as their beloved team lost the third game of the season, being beaten by the Carolina Panthers.
Steve Smith caught the go-ahead touchdown pass and his long catch and run set up the clinching score and the Panthers used a ferocious defense to stifle Favre, Adrian Peterson and the Vikings in a 26-7 victory. 40-year-old Favre was not the best quarterback on the field any more, instead Matt Moore, a rookie quarterback in Panthers jersey starting for the third game as replacement to injured Jake Delhomme, took the honor by throwing for a career-high 299 yards and three touchdown passes.
Smith caught nine passes for 157 yards and keyed Carolina’s 20-point fourth quarter, and Jonathan Steward added 109 yards rushing and a TD on 25 carries.

Brett Favre jersey is still best selling
According to sales records form the NFLShop.com, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre can still be considered to be the most popular football player as Brett Favre jersey remains No.1 in NFL player jersey sales ranking.
By helping the Vikings start at 10-1, Favre has proved that he is still in his best time despite the fact that he is at age 40. Partly because of his jersey being at the top of the jersey list, the Vikings are ranking third in team sales, following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys. And Brett Favre is followed by Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Vikings’ runningback Adrian Peterson in the top 3 best selling player jerseys.
Eight of the ten best selling jerseys are quarterback jerseys, including Favre jersey, Tom Brady jersey, Peyton Manning jersey, Jay Cutler Jersey, Ben Roethlisberger jersey, Eli Manning jersey, Tony Romo jersey and Mark Sanchez jersey. Polamalu and Peterson are respectively the only safety and running back whose jersey is among the top 10 best selling jerseys.

Vikings CB Winfield may return to play against Seahawks
The Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield said he was“85 percent” sure he will play this Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks and“100 percent” sure he’ll play next Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
After missing the last three games with injury to right foot, Winfield participated in much of Wednesday’s practice. And according to Coach Brad Childress, the last season’s Pro Bowler has been “green-lighted” to push as hard as he feels he can during practice.
Although backup cornerbacks Benny Sapp, Karl Paymah and Asher Allen have filled in relatively well, the team is just expecting Winfield to return in his Vikings jersey as soon as he is able to play. They just do not want to rush him back until he has been fully recovered as precaution.

NFL commissioner Goodell to testify again
After testifying Wednesday on a hearing about NFL players’ head injuries, the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be in Capitol Hill again next week to testify another hearing, which is about the suspension of two professional football players who wear NFL jerseys.
Goodell and DeMaurice Smith, head of the NFL players union, are among the witnesses scheduled before a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee next Tuesday. The NFL has asked the full federal appeals court to hear the case suspending Minnesota Vikings Pat Williams and Kevin Williams for four games. The two, not related, sued the league in state court, arguing the NFL’s testing violated Minnesota workplace laws. Afterwards, the NFL players union also filed a similar lawsuit on behalf of the Williamses and New Orleans Saints players who were also suspended.
Although a federal judge dismissed the union’s lawsuit and several claims in the Williamses’ case in May, he still sent two claims involving Minnesota workplace laws back to state court. Then a Minnesota judge issued an injunction prohibiting the NFL from suspending the players and his decisions was approved by a federal appeals court panel last month. Btu the NFL argued that federal labor law should pre-empt state law and insisted that uniform standards are necessary for players nationwide-that is why the league asked for a hearing.

Favre get ready for playing against old team in Green Bay
The Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre will play in Green Bay this weekend. What is his feeling about playing against the team he used to play with and facing the fans that used to support him? Not sure, but it will not be nervous or nauseous.
Although nervous and nauseous was Favre felt in his first preseason game with the Vikings, it won’t be used to describe his status in the highly hyped rematch in Green Bay at Lambeau Field, as Favre already played a home game against the Packers at the Metrodome.
It is just so different to see Favre wearing rival purple and white Vikings jersey rather than the green and gold Packers jersey. We can expect a mixture of cheers and boos for the NFL’s all-time leading passer being a visitor at Lambeau for the first time. But what I expect more is to see the Vikings set their 7-1 record.

Vikings hope Winfield to play against Steelers
After experiencing the stark contrast between the defense with Antoine Winfield and without while playing against the Baltimore Ravens, the Minnesota Vikings now have high hopes of the team’s smallest player to play this Sunday against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Pro Bowl cornerback sprained his right foot in the second quarter of the game against the Ravens, leaving a giant hole in the Vikings defense. The Vikings forced Baltimore to punt on its first five possessions as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead. But after they lost Winfield in the second quarter, quarterback Joe Flacco in Ravens jersey started to pick apart the secondary from then on out.
As they are going to face another big test this Sunday in Pittsburgh- the suddenly pass-happy Steelers, the Vikings defense is in need of Winfield, who has missed the first two days of practice this week. It is not a good sign. And Coach Brad Childress said Thursday that he was still uncertain whether Winfield would be able to play Sunday.

Vikings were planning to trade backup QB Tarvaris Jackson
After the star quarterback Brett Favre joined the Minnesota Vikings, the team felt the pressure of cutting one of the four quarterbacks they have to cut their rosters to 53. And it was said that backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson could be the one to be given up.
Being aware of the rumors, Jackson, who competed for the starting quarterback job with Sage Rosenfels before Favre’s arrival, said that his focus was on the Vikings’ preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night.
"You never know with this business, period," Jackson told the Star Tribune. "I just take it as it is. Whatever happens, happens. I can't control it. I just try and get better, that's it. I can't worry about [whether he gets traded or released]. I'm not worried about it because I can't control it. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen whether I worry or not."
With Favre sitting out the exhibition, Jackson will have the last chance to show his value to the team along with Rosenfels and John David Booty on Friday night.

Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson skipped practice for knee injury
On Vikings Sunday practice, quarterback Tarvaris Jackson did not appear because of a sprained MCL in his left knee, which he got on Saturday when defensive lineman LeTroy Guion accidentally rolled up on his leg during an 11-on-11 drill.
“He stayed inside for treatment today,” coach Brad Childress said. “The first 24 hours are a big time to treat those things. He spent some time with all the modalities they do in the swimming pool. There are several things they can do for him.” He did not expect to see Tarvaris wearing back practice nfl jerseys soon.
Jackson is competing with Sage Rosenfels for the starting job, so it is very likely that he could return to practice on Monday.
