Vikings were planning to trade backup QB Tarvaris Jackson

After the star quarterback Brett Favre joined the Minnesota Vikings, the team felt the pressure of cutting one of the four quarterbacks they have to cut their rosters to 53. And it was said that backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson could be the one to be given up.

Being aware of the rumors, Jackson, who competed for the starting quarterback job with Sage Rosenfels before Favre’s arrival, said that his focus was on the Vikings’ preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Friday night.

"You never know with this business, period," Jackson told the Star Tribune. "I just take it as it is. Whatever happens, happens. I can't control it. I just try and get better, that's it. I can't worry about [whether he gets traded or released]. I'm not worried about it because I can't control it. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen whether I worry or not."

With Favre sitting out the exhibition, Jackson will have the last chance to show his value to the team along with Rosenfels and John David Booty on Friday night.

Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson skipped practice for knee injury

On Vikings Sunday practice, quarterback Tarvaris Jackson did not appear because of a sprained MCL in his left knee, which he got on Saturday when defensive lineman LeTroy Guion accidentally rolled up on his leg during an 11-on-11 drill.

“He stayed inside for treatment today,” coach Brad Childress said. “The first 24 hours are a big time to treat those things. He spent some time with all the modalities they do in the swimming pool. There are several things they can do for him.” He did not expect to see Tarvaris wearing back practice nfl jerseys soon.

Jackson is competing with Sage Rosenfels for the starting job, so it is very likely that he could return to practice on Monday.
