After Ben Roethlisberger was hurt during Thursday practice, it was expected that he would not be able to play the Saturday night’s preseason game against the Washington Redskins. However, he has traveled with the Pittsburgh Steelers to Washington, meaning that the foot injury was not a serious one.
There are a few more signs of the injury not serious, including that the team did not issue an injury update before leaving Friday and no one in the team has indicated the injury was more than minor. Roethlisberger also still worked a third-base coach during the traditional end-of-camp offense vs. defense softball game on Thursday night.
Roethlisberger played only two series in the Steelers’ first exhibition game on Aug. 13 against Arizona and. He was not expected to play more than 15 plays against the Redskins before his being hurt, so he might play less or even watch from sideline with injury.
