As there have been all kinds of speculations on whether the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb will join the St. Louis Rams, the Rams Coach Steve Spagnuolo feels that he has to come out to make things clear, and he said on Thursday that the Rams have no intension to bring McNabb into the Rams jersey.
While visiting the Arizona Cardinals spring training camp, Spagnuolo said that there is nothing to that trade.
“At this time of the year, there are going to be all kinds of things. But no, there’s nothing there.” The coach said, ruling out the possibility of the Rams to trade for McNabb with a second-round pick and safety O.J. Atogwe.
Spagnuolo was at Cardinals camp in Jupiter, Fla., following the NFL owners meetings in Orlando. He visited manager Tony La Russa and will watch some spring training games. He just does not believe that the Rams would like to trade Atogwe for McNabb, and with a he first pick of the draft in hand, the Rams can just get a much younger quarterback from the draft.

Rams RB Jackson may play season finale with team
The St. Louis Rams are expecting running back Steven Jackson to wear back his Rams jersey to play the season finale against the San Francisco 49ers. Losing last Sunday’s game to the Arizona Cardinals 31-10 demonstrated how much it would mean if Jackson returned for the season finale.
Jackson was a surprise scratch for Sunday’s 31-10 loss at Arizona. He confirmed after the game that he’s been playing with a herniated disk that will not require surgery, and that he anticipates playing this weekend against the 49ers. But he stressed he didn’t want to hurt the team, either.
“I didn’t want to go out there for selfish reasons, for personal goals, or trying to have a streak to prove to people,” Jackson said. “It’s one of those decisions where I felt that it was in the best interest of the team and myself that I at least try to give myself a week to kind of come back strongly against San Francisco.”
As the only one-win team in the NFL, the Rams would be ensured the first shot at Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in next year’s draft if they failed to win the final game of the season.

All Rams did not practice Thursday because of swine flu cases
Thursday, during the time the St. Louis Rams should be practicing and preparing for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, no one wearing Rams jersey appeared in the practice facility.
Not because they were confident that they could win the game even without practice, but because there has been an undisclosed number of swine flu cases on the team. Coach Steve Spagnuolo would not say how many players had the illness but said five or six players had flulike symptoms, and added that other players had reported symptoms the last few weeks.
The Coach also said that the Rams would return to practice on Friday with a workout that will incorporate some of the elements missed on Thursday. Spagnuolo expected that the team will be ok even if a couple guys would have to be kept away from teammates.

Guard incognito was released after playing five years for Rams
Two days after being benched by Coach Steve Spagnuolo in the second half of the loss to the Tennessee Titans, guard Richie Incognito had to take off his St. Louis Rams jersey after playing all the five years of his career for the team.
“As with all other personnel moves, this is what we felt was in the best interest of the team at this time,” Spagnuolo said in a statement. “We appreciate Richie’s efforts and we wish him the very best.”
I have to say Incognito’s being released has been long expected but a problem of time. The five-year veteran was drafted in the third round in 2005 by the Rams and has frequently landed in trouble for playing long after the whistle and was named the dirtiest player in the NFL earlier this year by The Sporting News.
What caused him to be benched during last Sunday’s game was two personal foul penalties for head-butting players in Titans jerseys in the first half, repeating what happened in the opener at Seattle.
But Incognito just does not think there is anything wrong with his anger management, saying if he were a gentlemanly lineman he’d probably be out of the NFL, or perhaps playing for former Rams coach Jim Haslett in the United Football League.

Rams WR Avery is expected to play Sunday against unbeaten Colts
After trading starting linebacker Will Witherspoon to the Philadelphia Eagles, the St. Louis Rams acquired an Eagles backup with no career receptions. That puts the heat on Donnie Avery, who bruised hip and skipped Wednesday practice.
The second-year wide receiver was restricted to off-field drills Wednesday. Two days earlier, an MRI exam that revealed a bruise instead of a stress fracture provided a measure of relief for a player who toughed out a solid rookie season with a similar injury. However, Avery is confident that he will be ready to play against the unbeaten 5-0 Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.
“It’s just a little hump in the road,” Avery said. “I’m going to get over it, get out there and make plays. The best receivers, you’re always going to have obstacles.”
The 0-6 Rams will play against the Colts with an inexperienced crew at wide receiver: last year’s fourth-round pick Keenan Burton (17 catches), Danny Amendola (nine catches, 24-yard kickoff return average) has been wearing Rams jersey just for a month after getting signed off the Eagles’ practice squad and Tim Carter (one catch) was re-signed last week after being among the final cuts before the season opener.

Boller led Rams to win over Bengals by 24-21
On Thursday night’s preseason game the St. Louis Rams playing against the Cincinnati Bengals, Rams’ quarterback Kyle Boller proved his ability by leading the team to a 24-21 victory over the Bengals.
Thursday night was Boller’s second game filling in for Marc Bulger, who broke pinkie finger on his passing hand before the last game. Last week’s game against the Atlanta Falcons was the first game Boller playing as replacement for Bulger. While he struggled in the 20-13 loss to the Falcons, he seemed to feel much better against the Bengals.
Boller got his helmet knocked off on a hit by linebacker Keith Rivers at the end of an 8-yard scramble, but he got to his feet quickly and completed his next two passes. Coach Steve Spagnuolo praised Boller and said that he was a quarterback deserving the credit.
Bulger was supposed to start the season opener on Sept. 13 at Seattle, but the team would worry less now since the backup quarterback is just as good.
