Ravens safety Reed wants new contract before he continues playing

The Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed recently made it clear that he wants a new deal if the team wants him to continue playing with them. Otherwise, he would seriously consider going to Minnesota to look for a chance of playing the next season in Vikings jersey. Well, at least the Ravens would be glad to know that Reed still has intention to play.

There are still three years remaining on Reed’s current 6-year contract with the Ravens. As it stands, he will be paid $6 million for 2010 and a total of $19.7 million through 2012. But since the end of 2009 season Reed had been talking about his plan to retire. He skipped all of the offseason workouts as if he really meant to quit football after winning Pro Bowl titles for six times during his 8-year NFL season. At age 32, Reed is still able to play a good football, but he had miss four full games of last season after sustaining a serious hip injury.

Now that a surgery had been successfully had and the recovery progress is going pretty well at the moment, Reed seems to gain confidence back with his own ability and requires a better contract for continuing to play with the Ravens.
